Undressing, Applying Ash
The wutu performers here apply ash to their exposed upper bodies (including face and hair) and lower legs. The ash is made from burnt bsang (offerings for deities, mostly made from conifer needles).The lhaba (trance medium) stands by, overseeing the proceedings.
