• Ian Martin gave a special evening lecture entitled Supporting Nepal’s Peace Process: From Conflict to Constituent Assembly for the Britain-Nepal Academic Council (BNAC) on Thursday 18 March. Martin served as Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) until February 2009. The talk was held from 7-9pm in room B102 at SOAS. • BNAC Annual Lecture entitled "Religion and Politics in Contemporary Nepal: The Case of the Pasupatinatha Temple" by Professor Axel Michaels of Heidelberg University, was held at SOAS on 10 November, 2009.

• A Nepal Study Day was held in Edinburgh on 30 March, 2009, to coincide with the British Association of South Asian Studies conference. Over forty people attended, including a large contingent from Aberdeen. Click here to view the final programme.
